Safe Boating Refresher

The USCG Auxiliary State of Hawaii addendum class

The State of Hawaii has changed the law regarding boating in the State. Starting in November 2014 a mandatory class is required for all boat operators to take a certified safe boating class.

The USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 18 is offering to update those who have taken a USCG Auxiliary class NASBLA certified class at The Hawaii Yacht. If you attend and pass a three hour refresher class you earn the “State of Hawaii endorsement stamp” on the card or certificate.

Please note: This three hour State of Hawaii requirements class is for those who have in their possession a valid card or certificate from a NASBLA certified class. The class card/certificates accepted are from the following list of USCG Auxiliary classes:

America’s Boating Course (ABC)
About Boating Safely (ABS)
Boating Skills and Seamanship (BS&S)
Sailing Skills and Seamanship (SS&S)

There will be a small 5.00 fee for the card upgrade to benefit the program and cover supply costs. The first refresher class will be on the Sunday the 27th of October, 2013 at 9 a.m. till around noon.

All participants bring your former card or certificate (no photocopies) to the class there will be a short test at the end of the day. Space is limited, but don’t worry we will do several more upgrade classes. We will also be doing the entire “About Boating Safely” (abs) class soon for those who do not have a class already and for those who do not meet the other requirements.
